ABOUT US

FROM
A WAREHOUSE
Bobby and Michelle Mongelli, after exploring the top pizza destinations across the U.S. and Naples, Italy, came to a clear conclusion—Stock Island needed a great family-friendly pizzeria and gathering place. They held out for the perfect location, eventually finding it in a worn-down warehouse ready for a fresh start.
Since opening in 2012, Roostica has been serving up thin-crust Neapolitan-style pizzas and rustic Italian dishes, quickly becoming the go-to spot for locals to eat, drink, and gather.

A LOCAL GEM

AN AUTHENTIC SLICE OF
ITALIAN TRADITION
In 1998, the Italian government officially recognized Neapolitan Pizza as a cultural treasure, granting it Denominazione di Origine Controllata (D.O.C.) status. This designation ensures that the time-honored methods and ingredients used to craft this iconic dish are preserved.
To be considered authentic, Neapolitan Pizza must adhere to strict guidelines. The dough can only contain soft-grain flour, fresh yeast, water, and sea salt. For toppings, only Italian plum tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, extra-virgin olive oil, and either fresh basil or dried oregano are permitted. Pizza Marinara is the only variety allowed to include fresh garlic. Finally, to achieve its signature texture and flavor, every Neapolitan Pizza must be baked in a traditional wood-fired oven.

MORE THAN JUST A
PHRASE
For those who know, they know... “Legalize Marinara” represents a love for authentic, time-honored pizza traditions. It’s a nod to the simplicity and purity of true Neapolitan pizza, where quality ingredients and classic techniques reign supreme.
It's time to legalize marinara
